The entire 3G network in Australia was shut down in October 2024. This applies to every phone provider, with no exceptions.
This means that if your phone service is no longer working because of this shutdown, buying a Moose SIM and attempting to connect on our service will not make your 3G work again. 3G will never work on any phones in Australia again.
To check if your phone is no longer usable on Australian mobile networks due to not being 4G compatible, you can text the number "3" to "3498". You will receive a text back which will inform you on your phone model and whether or not it is compatible with the 4G network for phone calls.
If your phone says "Network Disconnected" and if your phone is not affected by the 3G shutdown, then you can try to enable the VoLTE setting on your phone and do a network setttings reset. These options will vary based on your handset, so if you need assistance please get in touch with us by calling 1300 566 673.
If your phone is affected then you will not be able to solve this by joining Moose. You will need to make sure you have a 4G compatible device before you join Moose if you want your Moose service to function as normal. Any phone sold in the last 5 years is basically guaranteed to work with the 4G network, but it is your responsibility to source a compatible phone from one of the many phone manufacturers that sell their devices in Australia. It is best to double check a device's 4G compatibility with the manufacturer before you buy, as Moose will not be responsible for any lack of service due to a device's incompatibility.
